So he’s going to get the “real” record by a decent margin? Good stuff

Just before 02:30 is looking promising. It's going to be a tough finish after ten gruelling days.

Story: a friend of mine once dropped out of a 100km race after covering 90km and I couldn't understand it. Just 10km to go, why not have the determination to finish it off? I then ran the 100k, and now I completely understand it; those final 10k were horrific and there's no doubt it's my worst ultramarathon experience ever. (but I did finish, despite the medals being handed out in the distance as I passed 90k...)

These final few hours will be hell for Dan. Utmost respect to him.

Which one was that andy? Making you run past the finish with 10km to go sounds like a cruel and unusual punishment.

About 7.5 miles left. I'm staying up until the end.

This is when he will know he could walk it in, which often gives you that extra burst of energy.

What an achievement - I wonder how much did the heat wave impact? Not sure if he was far enough north before it hit?

I remember talking to his crew at GUCR 5 years ago (wife / partner I think) and they said he handled the heat quite well - had spent a lot of time in India due to work I think?

Is the tracker not working for anyone else? I hope he hasn't fallen in the North Sea.

Mr. K.
Robbie Britton @ultrabritton

He’s done it!

@Therunningdan runs Land’s End to John O’Groats in 9 days, 21 hours, 14 minutes and 2 seconds.
