I bet no-one else thinks that when they see you, Wp.
My coaching this week has been around the power of the words we use towards ourselves. We need to speak kindly to ourselves, as we would speak to others. It’s a hard task but I’m calling out others when they are negative about themselves as my starting point 😊

I agree with GM there about how we view ourselves and how others view us, i'm always disappointed in pictures of myself as its not how i see myself, or even my reflection, weird.

I'm sure the pie and peas will soon disappear GM, but sounds like a fun event.

Thank you both and you are both right. I would never discribe others as I do myself. But how weird that photos really can stir up so much emotion.

I have a photo on my desk from a race in 2019 and I look okay but I must be stone lighter so it will spur me on to do better than I have been doing.

Weight is but a number. Your body shape may have changed for the better and yet the number on the scale have increased.

Meanwhile, I'm a proper screwed up cookie - I spent years trying to get back to a number that I was in 2013. I'm 2 stone less than that number now and I'm still not satisfied with how I look. I berate myself daily for not sticking to the menu plan 100% and my weight having stalled for the last 4 months or so when I'm sure I've got at least another half stone, maybe a stone, of lard that could go if I was more disciplined.

This is why I need to work so hard on speaking more kindly to myself, whilst at the same time, practice arguing with what my brain is telling me so I can change my actions/reactions

eg "I really fancy a piece or cake so I will eat it," or "It looks a bit grey out there so I don't think I'll bother going for a run." Both thoughts are the brain going for the easy option but I could talk myself into making healthier decisions if I pick up on the internal voice as it's happening.
Or something like that. It's all a bit new and I'm working my way though what this might look like.

GM, have you read The Chimp Paradox by Dr Steve Peters?

I think it might help you, he's also written a more recent book, but i can't remember the name, which is supposed to be very good.

It is all about working with your mind to help you manage the last paragraph you wrote above.

If you haven't heard of him, he did a lot of work with british cycling, Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendelton era.

Yes I’ve got The Chimp Paradox. Thanks for the reminder, lammo - I need to re-visit it 😊

I weigh on Sunday and dropped 4lbs from Wednesday when I weighed post holiday. It just takes me in the right stone bracket again.I am determind to be more focused and get out of this stone or near the top end if I can before NYE.I get times when I cant be bothered to track calories and just eat what I want...which I did on holiday but I do feel more focused coming home and working on a healthier me.

Hug for GM as I think you need kindness and look how far you have come both health wise and training wise.
I also do not work well with a target it stresses me to much but if you trust the process work on things you know you can do it will help.

Lammo How has your week been?

For me 2 bottles of water
protein drink
10k steps daily
Run 6 days
walk
stick to my calories
strength work

In the end I will come good but I have to focus and realise if I dont look after me no one else will.

That’s a great result, Wp - it shows your holiday gain wasn’t fat - and thank you for your kind words.
I’ve blogged. I’ve reverted to old self-sabotaging behaviours over the last few days.
Today I am going to take it one step/habit at a time. I’ll be happy if I manage no snacking today.

Morning, not a great week as i struggled to get my eating right again, but the exercise was good and the weight stayed the same, so it could have been worse.

Interesting thought about being happy with where i am, lost 2/3 of the target and feel and look better, maybe the drive isn't quite there to go the extra mile. I know i would look and feel even better if i got to my target weight, but it was an arbitrary target plucked out of thin air and a weight i haven't seen in the last 10 years other than during a bout of illness.

Maybe if i can plateau here for a while and go again... I won't be changing my good habits that got me here so we'll see where that goes.

Nice blog GM, very honest and definitely part of your journey, well done, keep going, the weights improvements are very impressive.

WP, it sounds like your holiday really hit the spot, allowed you a bit of time not thinking so much about your food and has given you a renewed vigour. Should be a great next phase.

Have a great week, be strong.

Why 15 mpw? It’s nice to focus on the process but very easy to ignore without a why - “consistent running will improve PBs”? Will you do 5 x 3 or 3 x 5?

Fraggle: TBC

Welsh Poppy:

Back in my OMM rain jacket by 31st December

Body fat at 22%

HOW: I will do this by sticking to

1799 calories a day

111g protein( as per JSA)

3 strength training a week(JSA)

6 runs

Alice the Camel: GOALS

1. Lose 10kg by December. Use My Fitness Pal to record calories - MFP suggests 1200 cals /day.

2. Train for and run Great South Run (currently only running max 4 miles). Run 3x per week - 1 parkrun distance, 1 easy, 1 longer run.

3. 10000 steps a day (I know it’s an arbitrary number but it will focus my efforts to move more!)

Sweetie:

Goal: Lose 8-10lbs before Christmas

1850 calories per day

Not to exceed sugar target on MFP

3 walks per week (in additional to regular training plan - I can swim/bike/run and shift nothing but with walking the weight seems to go quite rapidly)
1 x yoga per week (not related to weight loss but need to get back into regular stretching).

Lammo:

Lose 8 kg by end of year

Exercise for 7 hours per week (i'd rather not include walking, but am sure i will to start with)

How: No snacks, less sugar, more fruit and veg, also making better use of my time for being active.

Angus:

WHAT? Weigh 100kg by the time we get back from Sardinia (mid-Oct)

HOW? No booze, no crisps, better eating habits, drink more water, get more sleep.

WHAT? Weigh 90kg by Christmas.

HOW? Start running again.

WHAT? Start running again.

HOW? Walk every day for 4 weeks. Maybe C25K?

Rosehip:

Goal lose a stone by May 2023

Process:

Join gym and weight train 2x week

Back to 100 mile months and to 200 miles by end May

1600-1700 cals, + extra on long run days

Increase lean protein in diet

Spend less time on sofa.

Jaks:

I’d like to lose a pound a week up to Christmas by cutting out sweets, biscuits, cake and crisps. Really need to eat healthier and I like the idea of having accountability on here.

Gimmie Medals:

I want to:

Lose 10kg by Christmas

Run 5k comfortably (might include jeffing, but it’s the comfortable bit I’m after)

I’m doing it by:

10k steps a day (I’ve just hit my longest streak of 18 days)

Counting calories on MFP (Daily calories as per JSA calculator)

3 x resistance exercise sessions each week

3 x runs a week including a parkrun or 5k
