Can I ask all the really daft questions from someone who's never done a *proper* race before? How do I get there? Do I have to carry all my own stuff, or is there somewhere I can leave it safely? Do 10k races provide water or only longer ones? Are there any hills? If I've been over-optimistic with my finishing time, can I start further back where I won't get run over? Am I just plain bloody neurotic???

Theyre not daft questions & every race is different.

Personally I always drive(sorry environment), park up at the Govan Asda & walk across to the start about 10 mins away. If you get train from Edinburgh there used to be a shuttlebus from city centre, not quite sure if it runs this year.

There are at least 2 water stations on the route. There is a wee bit of a hill in Pollock park but its over very quickly. I dont remember a baggage area the last time but again that may have changed. You can start as far back as you like and there will be people running/jogging/walking & various combinations taking from 35 mins to 2 1/2 hours plus so there is no pressure. This was my first 10k & I loved it :-)

Duchess the only daft question is the one you don't ask!! The race pack should be arriving in the next couple of weeks with all the information you need. I go with my daughter who parks in some place that the locals know about. Look out for a wee wumman in a red Fetch hat and don't be afraid to say Hi.

Duchess.

The Pollok Park hill is well walkable. I walked it last year and still managed to finish the course. The atmosphere is great and the crowds are out supporting you.

You will be given a colour depending on what time you estimated you'd finish. The race goes off in waves of colour depending on your bib colour. I was orange last year and that was at the back alongside walkers. A good few people start this race with full intention of walking the whole course, so a bit of walk/jogging as you feel doesn't go amiss, and you won't feel out of place.

Oh also my friends friend had a blue number, and earlier group than us, but she decided to come back and start with the orange group. It wasn't a problem.
