Morning, everyone. There are going to be starting pens for the first time today, apparently - a few people uneasy that'll it make the atmosphere feel 'too much like a race' but given the congestion and amount of people starting in silly positions (like the front row amblers from two weeks ago who were surprised that everyone was running past them), it's probably a good idea. Not sure how well it's been publicised for people who don't read Twitter / Facebook, though (I only found out last night by idly checking the HP Twitter account) so there's likely to be a lot of confusion this morning. I'm volunteering today so I'll get a good view of proceedings at the start anyway... |

It's a sensible idea especially as it is such a busy parkrun. People who are regular racers are used to standing somewhere like, but you can't expect people who haven't to be quite as savvy. Hope it went well. I shall be running down the seafront at Mablethorpe later instead |

Ooh - never been to Mablethorpe or Skegness yet - hope you had fun, Tiggs. The penned system worked really well, from my viewpoint 50 yards in front of the start. The entire crowd appeared to move through quicker than they normally do, and they was definitely less bumping and overtaking than usual. (although due to the crap weather and Lindley 10k today, there were 400 this weekend c/w 500 recently - it'll be interesting to see if a full house goes as smoothly...) |

For anyone thinking of going to Huddersfield parkrun tomorrow, it's off for one week (apparently, it's Huddersfield carnival) so: a) Go down to Greenhead Park with some Red Stripe instead; or b) Try some parkrun tourism (the likes of Dewsbury and Bradford aren't too far away; or c) Take the Saturday morning off and do a proper LSR on Saturday evening or Sunday morning instead ... (I'm doing (c), and going to see big littl'un at dance class for a change.) |

Lovely (although I bet you spent most of today getting the crumbs out). Off for my replacement run shortly...

Well, this should be fun - apparently, tomorrow's parkrun is largely being marshalled by a roller-derby squad* facebook.com *and no, I'm not entirely sure what it is that they do... |
