I agree with Curly, when I've over-raced, even though my body is fucked I can't sleep. To be fair this happens less and less as your body gets used to the punishment, just grin and bear it, it will get better!

Now now Swittle, this is Fetch! You expect people to rest and recover? There are marathons to be run, man!

I do find it amazing that people go for a light run a day or two after a marathon. Considering I could barely walk for three days after the Gut Buster, which was only 10 miles, I find the whole thing incredible :-)

Swittle - I run the day after a race (even a marathon). Its important for blood flow around the muscles. If I dont I just end up getting stiffer.

If think if you peak for a long distance race you do need a down time afterwards, but that still means getting your 30 mins of exercise a day (easy running or even walking is fine), I like MM suggestion of changing the emphasis to a different activity too.

The other way to get other the funk is to make a plan for your next race ;) Dont start training until you feel recovered though!

Swittle's comment had a very important word RACED!!! If you multi-event you are not racing, you are completing.

Have you tried swimming instead of running, give the legs a rest but still keep your heartrate up, or get on a strider or bike at the gym something a bit less weight bearing, i like the idea of upping your calorie intake as your body is probably short of vits and nutrients, Have you got any more races planned? as it may be as much a mental thing a bit of a hangover from the training and having had the events as a focus for such a long time. I've never really put a word to it before but MEH sounds good and 1 i may use in the future.
