Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I think we might go see Captain America: World Police when Liebling is back from her mum's.

Here is my theory, which is mine, about 'superhero fatigue': I reckon we hear so much about it because Benjamin Lee, Peter Bradshaw, Wendy Ide, Robbie Collin, Mark Kermode et al, have to go see every single film, DC, Marvel, etc. Whereas I just go see the ones I fancy seeing, catch up with some on streaming.

As such, *they* have fatigue. They see the great ones (GoTG), they see the bad ones (Ant-man 3). But even the films they call 1-star terrible, e.g. Eternals, The Marvels, I have thought were pretty decent and entertaining enough. Eternals was a bit overlong, Marvels was a bit thin but they were perfectly fine really.

There are just as many formulaic revenge-thrillers or teen-movies or rom-coms. Most films of any kind that actually get to cinemas are, to my mind, three-star, good-enough movies.

Aha! That may explain why I liked Dr Strange and my regular blockbuster-watching friend didn’t, @McGoohan

I thought both Dr Strange films were among the better ones in the genre TBH

I stick with Madame Web being harmless. I thoroughly enjoyed The Marvels.

This one is more obvious canon. If you enjoy this stuff even a bit you should go. It’s absolutely fine.

Timmy sings Bobby this afternoon. I expect it to be enjoyable but anodyne.

I think the conceit that Captain America doesn’t *have* to be Steve Rogers gives the whole thing a shot at reinvention without all the multiverse tomfoolery

The Marvels was great. 62% on Rotten Toms, that's not bad. The girls' interaction is fab. :-) G

Booked to see Capt America tomorrow.

Watched The Gorge on Apple last night. Despite one obvious anomaly I really liked it. The anomaly? How did two teenagers manage to achieve something that a whole platoon of professional soldiers fail? (Yes this is very tongue in cheek about the ages but the sentiment is valid 😉
