It was a relatively small part of our economy. Oil and gas are not good news when it’s the only thing a country has.

It's fine quite well for Norway, no? I'm sure it's not the only thing they have, but it's got to be the biggest thing, or joint biggest along with fish? |

Norway was indeed very sensible banking all the revenue of oil into a sovereign wealth fund. State owned, no private owners creaming off the profit. Hence they have a fabulously well funded state, benefits education etc. Don't think it's natural resource that are the prib, it's greedy and aggressive ownership and protection that are the problems. Usual power and exploitation correlation. Is this the Politics thread, yeah? G |

Probably helped that they're, you know, pretty white and local enough that folks would notice if an oil company staged a bloody coup d'etat. But yes, movies. KOTFM looked good but depressing from y trailers, I'll probably go for something fluffier next week. There's a fun looking Dutch thing about murder at a hairdressing competition. |

Watched Creator today. Enjoyable enough. Thought that it had the same vibe as Avatar (i.e. Yanks/Humans just want to destroy everything that they don't like/understand). Storyline seemed a bit patchy but it may be because I was distracted by the three young lads engaging in twattery in the row in front of us. I can't understand why people pay good money to go see a film and then twat about - maybe the story was too boring or not intense enough for them.

Anyone seen this? Not a feature film, but I didn't know where else it would fit in the Fetchiverse SHORT FILM: "ONE REVOLUTION PER MINUTE" erikwernquist.com Echoes of the wheeling spaceship in 2001 and utterly amazing, when you consider that it's all CGI. (What struck me was that the depth markers at the side of the swimming pool are just like those you'd find in real life, that's attention to detail). I've seen a Twitter discussion where someone pointed out the rotation rate was faster than 1rpm, but I think they're allowed a little artistic licence. |

Saw the trailer for the new Aquaman film yesterday. Thought that it was strange that the baddie said menacingly "I am going to burn your kingdom" Surely it going to be difficult to do that when Aquaman's kingdom is underwater? |
