Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Talking about Boney, has there been a movie about Boney M yet? I reckon that could be a film worth watching.

Johnny B: If you like podcasts rather than/ as well as books there was a really good series that covered Napoleon's entire life a few years back.

There's a film of "Waterloo" from the early 80s I think. Christopher Plummer as Wellington and Rod Stieger as Napoleon, and they both do a decent job. A little bit too much voice over of internal monologues from what I remember but the battle scenes, again, had quite a budget.

I just checked and it was 1970!

The Rest is History podcast did top 10 historical French films, as chosen by a French film critic and the 1920s one on Napoleon made the top 10. It's a great episode, there's now loads of films I must see as a result, not all sound equally appealing, but a couple of my favourite film directors appear in the list (and one director it would be hard to watch anything by these days)

Only Mabel is back for season 3 :)

Love Meryl Streep.

Also, Lola was pretty good, I definitely enjoyed it, although even fake newsreel of Nazis invading the UK is rather unsettling.

My first cinema visit in a while is coming up this Sunday. I’ve been sitting in the dark looking watching live theatre during the festival/fringe. And I still have a few shows to see. But on Sunday I’m going to see The Innocents.
