If you arranged it via fmail, then maybe The Man could track down the archived fmails from way back?

If you want to borrow a copy in the meantime, let me know - happy to lend mine for as long as you need.

After yesterday's run and taking into account my long spell off with injury and the fact that I now find myself faffing about at running with no direction or plan whatsoever, I have revisited Parker's book and decided to use his training plans to try and get myself back to where I was without completely buggering myself up again.

So, based on my 5K and 10K PBs, as of next week I'm starting the "4 Week Scratch - Advanced" schedule to get myself used to training regularly again and then it's onto the "12 Week Program - Advanced"

Let's see if what he preaches actually works

Wish me luck ;-)

Good luck

Your 5 and 10k PB's appear to be over a year old

I know, I was out of proper action from March last year, Achilles injury, hence the decision to do the 4 Week Scratch programme. No point in heading headlong straight back to the physio ... I reckon the slower runs should allow me to work on form as well as get fit again

Day 1 done. 4 miles @ Sub 70% ... bloody slow though, avg pace was 11.20mm :-o

But I never went above 70% for the whole run, should be interesting to see how that improves.

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
