It made me laugh, I have this photo on my wall. The guys doing the 200 were so chatty and friendly as well, always spoke as they passed me on the way, or I passed them. I was in awe of them.

Still dot watching 26 hours 29 minutes on and Chris is in the lead! Although he took a lengthy detour in Hutton Lowcross Woods...

Chris won it! And only 3k ahead of the 2nd place guy Mark. 45 hours on feet!

Evening all, I'm in for the 110 this year (unsupported), and looking for recommendations for somewhere to stay in or near Helmsley. Any advice gratefully received.

I assume Helmsley YHA is full or not available? I crashed at the New Buckland in Wombleton after the HM55 one year, simple but nice enough and just £45 B+B. It’s a few miles outside Helmsley. |

When I did the 110 I camped at the cricket club at the start. That no longer an option?

Thanks chaps, just starting to look at options - haven't seen any mention of camping, but will want a bed after the race

Hi, I have only ever done Roundhay 50 (once) and Lakeland 50 (3 times) in terms of ultra's of 50M or more, and therefore never Hardmoors 60 which will be my first time this September. Two questions are burning if anyone has any insight please: 1) How does Lakeland 50 and Hardmoors 60 compare? 2) Are supporters allowed to hand you stuff like socks and clothing on the Hardmoor races? Lakeland its a big NO NO, but nothing in the rules for Hardmoors 60 so I am assuming its fully allowed? If so I better get some support crew sorted, including someone to "run" (there will be no running by this point) the last miles from Scarborough to Filey!! Anything else which I should be aware of being a Hardmoors newbie? Thanks for any and all responses......just getting my head into this now. Im definitely not as fit for this as I was Lakeland 50 in July (12hrs16mins). 4 weeks out afterwards due to knees and blister issues.....just getting round is my goal. Cheers, MAG |

Check out the race website - the info you are looking for is on there. Crews are allowed (thought with restrictions in certain places) and support runners are allowed from Scarborough (though they can't mule for you) hardmoors110.org.uk and check the competitors & rules tabs. Only done the 60 once, years ago, but I'd say roughly on a par with L50 in terms of effort, but different in nature. Generally quite flat and runnable coastal path but with thousands of bloody steps up and down into the bays. |
