OH was the same. But I guess that doesn't really matter to a needle-phobic person.

They were excellent with my anxiety and needle phobia. Either they had a secret sign between them, or it shone out of me, but they picked up somehow that I wasn't the most confident boy in the world.

Made me drink some water first ("It's champagne, it just looks like water"), then had a nice woman chat to me whilst stabber-in-chief did her stuff. And I still didn't feel like a total numpty :)

They were super nice to Ds1, plus not phased by me going in to talk utter crap at him to distract him from thoughts of needles. He was just fine. A girl there had a bed already allocated to her in case of fainting as her dad went in and warned them first. I reckon they’re pretty good at dealing with everything by now!

Our needle phobic son has also been known to keel over! But he was determined to get vaccinated and was able to change both his appointments to tines my OH could accompany him for reassurance and he was fine, despite over an hour wait in the queue for the second one!

Ds1 didn’t get much choice really, I made the appointments and told him about them then drove him there…I did say that he could change his mind, but the expectation was pretty clear! Plus he knows it’s the right thing to do and makes socialising less stressful

Kudos to the needle-phobics out there getting it done. Luckily I have no issue disassociating the needle going in from what is actually happening but it is a perfectly rational fear...

I've been trying every day to book a jab for Youngest, who turns 18 next week.
Today it finally let me through to book - and the nearest available centre is nearly 50 miles away.
Will try again tomorrow.

I never thought it was helpful in all the adds for the vaccine to show needles being jabbed in arms. I kept thinking how off putting that must be for some to see.
