Any locals recommend any accommodation that is close enough for the missus to go shopping in Sheffield (e.g. good transportation links) while I'm out getting exhausted?

Mmmmmmm.
To get really decent transport links you need to be in the city, best off near ecclesall road. You'll have a car to get out to grindleford yourself? It's only like 7 miles from the ecclesall road area of the city.

Then I would find something near Eccy Road. Buses every ten minutes into town. And easy for you to drive out from as well. I'll have a think/ask my mum about any hotels/B&Bs which might be good.
