I've just had a quick look, and it appears the closest three Premier Inn's are already full! The Premier League fixtures are due out by "Friday 21st August (at the latest)" so it's likely to only get worse (unless Man Utd fans have already booked refundable rooms for all weekends, and then will cancel if there isn't a home game that weekend).

Various hotels around Salford Quays with a range of prices. Assuming you book early enough. Or further away and use public transport on the morning (which I've not done myself).

Wonder what the odds of a "normal" event are though. It's less than 8 months away now and there's a lot to happen between now and then.

Good reminder Nelly, thanks.

I think the fixtures come out on Friday. Do they still make sure there’s not a clash or is that a thing of the past?

Just booked my airbnb :-)

I suppose the pizza restaurant can wait until a little closer to the big day....

Getting excited now with the anticipation!

X-posted with a couple of folks there. Apologies.

Where’d you book JDA?

As I started to think about it I contemplated whether I’ve got it in me to train for something I’m not sure is going to happen. I see Brighton are rearranged to the spring so maybe, just maybe....

WW - the council/police appear happy for the marathon and a Man Utd home game to occur on the same weekend, I can recall at least one year when this happened (but it wasn't a "big" game, so was unlikely to be moved to the Sunday for SlySports coverage), but clearly they couldn't happen on the same day (with the current route).

I've been putting off starting a 2021 Manchester Marathon thread, but with all the hotel discussions (and jda "getting excited" ;-) ), maybe now is the right time?

I would quite like to make an appearance and with London being moved 2021 may be my chance. Let’s hope though we are back racing by then.

WW, I'm in the Chorlton area, which I've found handy in the past when driving. It's a reasonable walking/warm-up distance to/from the start and has a fantastic pizza restaurant.

My working hypothesis is that we'll get a good heads-up about the likelihood of it happening from whether smaller events take place through the winter (like the Ribble Valley 10k and Blackpool HM I usually race). If we can't have minor races of 500 with no spectators, there won't be a 20,000-person city marathon with crowds. I certainly don't see myself slogging away for 18 weeks on a hope without any intermediate races.

It has been confirmed in the last hour that the Premier League fixtures will be announced at 9am tomorrow... just in case anybody wants to book accommodation before then.
