Fist of Monkey
I stayed there a couple of years ago, its next door to a morrissons supermarket so ideal for those last minute essentials (safety pins, porridge etc). Parking in the supermarket is pay and display, I seem to recall travelodge guests get a reduced daily rate.

I'm thinking about going to the official launch event on Tuesday 15th (noon - 7pm) at Hardman Square, is anybody else local going?

That was the plan... but I've just checked my diary and I've got a meeting 12:30-1:30 :-(

Also via Facebook, due to complaints from people who have already, "Thanks for your feedback, we will do a random draw for ten ASICS goody bags in celebration of the official launch day. Ten people will be randomly picked from everyone who signed up before the launch. The winners will be notified directly by email."

Ii am thinking of going to launch. I should be able to see launch from my office window so would be silly not to bob down. Not sure if i am going enter. Enjoyed last year but might want to try a a different event if i do another marathon in spring.

Just been to the official launch. I'm in and registered for next year, and in possession of a goody bag, comprising a rucksack, towel, water bottle and a couple of key rings (so £100 worth might be a bit optimistic but definitely worth an hour or so out of the office) :-)

Sorry to interrupt - I did the inaugural GMM in 2012 (?) which to be honest left me a bit traumatised!

Was it noticeably better in 2013/2014? I'd like to have a another crack at it lay the ghosts.....
But (a) not sure if I can fit a Spring and an Autumn marathon into my life, and (b) if I do, will be be just as grim? Have the organisers altered anything?

(To recap in 2013, the weather was foul (beyond the control of the organisers, I know!) and although the supporters were great, the organisation was dire. Totally inadequate bag drop off/reclaim process, not enough room at the start (both sides round a roundabout? - good job more people didn't turn up!), marshals did a good job individually but rather far and few between, and the route took in more streams around Dunham Massey than was wise. (Okay, I think they were actually small roads and a green lanes - but I've never had to wash the mud out from under my toenails after a road marathon before or since. I learned some new swear words that day!)
The collection of number beforehand was a bit rubbish too, as was the goody back. Out of about 8000 entries there were only 2,500 turned up (weather related!), but the chip timing and reporting was sufficiently dodgy that even a few weeks later some runners were still apparently lost in the wilds of Trafford/Cheshire.... End of rant!)

MMM - new organisers, new route, new weather, new everything ;-)
All worked very smoothly last year, loads of marshals, loads of water stations, etc. the only thing that didn't work too well was the auto FB updates, think my finish update was posted before my 10k update, so won't bother signing up for that again.
