B-Lass, Langport is NOT typical of these sort of LDWA type events... it was much tougher than usual, the paths worse (or non existant), far more styles and gates than usual and the instructions vague. I've done a couple of LDWA style events in Suffolk/Norfolk and whilst they are far from easy, no marathon is easy, they were substantially more straightforward than Langport.

Although rather off topic I think the most straightfoward LDWA type one I've done has been the Daffodil Dawdle in March (not a million miles from this place) and the Poppyline in June (aside from a few steep bits at the start and finish but not that bad otherwise really nice and flat)...

Wow. This looks like an awesome event. Shame I've not got enough holiday left this year.

My Garmin had it at 1297' for the 2010 event... do they alter the route from year to year perhaps? Maybe my memory is fading, just didn't seem too bad to me! There are a couple of decent climbs within the first few miles, but after that it SEEMED pretty flat, although you know when I think about it now I did the South Downs Trail one the week after and anything seems flat in comparison! Maybe memory is playing tricks!

Same course as last year. They claim 520 metres on the entry form, which is just over 1700 feet. Agreed two tough climbs in early miles and then the long drag and sharp finish up the cliff before dropping back down in to Sheringham, which people might know from the Round Norfolk Relay, which was pretty tough with a headwind today.

I'm sure it won't be like Langport. Looking forward to it. Must sign up some time! Any sign of the run routes yet?

I quite like the tough routes, but probably not for 4 in 4 days. Just done Swaledale marathon with lots of nice hills in it. Excellent route and one I'd recommend. C'mon everyone get signed up. It'll be fun:)
