I would think that each national FA, if they built a national stadium, would want it to be the biggest at that point in time (and Wembley was) but I don't see how you'd be able to enforce that restriction on clubs, which are commercial enterprises in their own right.

I actually think only one of the biggest 10 football stadia in the world is a national stadium - Azteca in Mexico. Though even then not all the lists I've seen are even the same!

Well it can't be much of a thing, Hampden Park 51,866 capacity, Parkhead 60,800. Ibrox is only 166 seats behind Hampden

I knew that Hampden was way smaller than Parkhead so yes that theory is out of the window.

If I remember correctly Newcastle are looking into either an expansion of Sid James Park or building a new stadium in the area - plans leaked was that maximum capacity would only be around 80k because of Wembley, suppose it could just be local paper talk?
