On balance Italy were the better team over the course of the match. They didn’t let England play the game that got them to the final. Kane, Sterling, Saka just didn’t get into the game. Italy just shut them down every time they got near the ball.

On the plus side a good stepping stone towards the World Cup next year. Overall a strong team performance with good depth on the bench.

Saka's wasn't that bad - Rashford's and Sancho's were just ridiculous, esp after Maguire (a centre-half!) had showed them how to do it.

Well done, Italy (grr) - the better team for about 95 of the 120 minutes.

Although I’m Scottish, I feel sorry for the young lads that missed. Too much pressure for them. At least it wasn’t just the one player that missed so hopefully won’t be vilified by press like Southgate etc have been in the past.

I don't blame the penalty takers. (I do think they should just cut out the stupid run ups though).

Italy were the better team but our game plan just seemed poor. Take the lead and then sit and hope they don't score. Both their cbs were booked and lacking pace and we still didn't get people running at them.
