(A cricketer has just been hauled over the coals about regrettable teenage tweets from 8/9 years ago, which he has now apologised for. One former international has said he should never be selected for England again, as people cannot be rehabilitated from such behaviour (racism/sexism - I've seen much worse). And I thought, "yeah, hmm - footballers".)

NFL is probable comparable to football in that you take mainly working class kids and the throw a shed load of money at them and then get a but surprised when they go a bit mental. Not excusing any behaviours and some kids come from far more balanced backgrounds that will have their parents making crucial early decisions for them, like not blowing £80k on a car when they are 18.
Grealish does seem a bit of a nob, but I hate to think what I’d have been like at a young age if I was bring in £100k a week.

I'm getting worried about how much I've been agreeing with Joopsy recently. 
We all knew that lad at school who was the best footballer and was therefore the school star. Now imagine all that adulation times 100 being thrown at you at 14 or 15. A lot of young pros will cope with that and come through it well. Some are going to do stupid things a lot and go off the rails. Even the good ones have a lot of opportunities to screw up.
I do wonder how much of the idolisation of Grealish compared to Sterling or Sancho has to do with white journos dreams of being a star player themselves and identifying with him, not the black kids.

I was right about the Czechs not matching the Danes intensity. Too easily bullied in the midfield, Holes (actually a right back) being shown up, and Boril should never have returned (the left back). No way back on this one.

In my view there is a big difference being a bit of a nob and splashing the cash. And then deliberately driving a car when totally trollied. And the other thing I don't get about people as wealthy as footballers is why don't they call a cab? It's not like they are unable to afford it. The cost of a cab home is probably a very small percentage of a bottle of Krug Grande they have just been swigging in the club.
