Saying that WW, I think it's a duty to clear Morecombe Bay so visitors don't get tempted to start running across the sands. :-o

I'd agree with you both - I've been across the sands (WITH an guide!) on two or three occasions, including the cross bay race, and would thoroughly recommend it as an experience but it most certainly is not a place for the average visitor (or resident) to be wandering without a guide.

Yes, my comment was tongue in cheek. You'd want the local knowledge to judge. There are some runnable beaches here and some that you wouldn't go near.

I often run across the beach when the tide is out as long as it is daylight. I always make sure I have my phone with me, but it’s a beach that loads of people go out and sunbathe on, & nip out for a swim in summer. There’s a clear difference between firm and swampy days too.

There are some quicksand risks, but as think they can be a bit overstated in the main.

Nonetheless, I do often sit here and remove fetch points from the bay. There’s no point in them being there, you can’t ‘locate’ them as such.

Today I managed to get a new record minus points in a day of 256 & I only went 2 & a half miles!

Also - I do know what you mean about just up & down the prom being boring, but I don’t do many miles so it’s not so bad. In the winter I break it up with the gym when the weather is bad (because when it is bad on a seafront it is very bad!), & in the summer, the views are glorious and different all the time. Running along the seafront is a glorious start to the day!

Amy - as long as you keep the town behind your back, Morecambe is the most beautiful place!! I do love running up & down the prom although the pubs / clubs along there can provoke some difficult memories of ‘growing up’!!

Here’s Morecambe on a ‘regular’ day. I’m in blue at parkrun. Remember those!?!

I arrived in Morecambe from Birmingham in June 2019 and I think I did about 4 Parkruns before lockdown. I only live about 100 years from the start line which is handy! I will look out for you when they start again.

I used to live in Sutton Coldfield and I do miss Sutton Park for being able to do a few different picturesque runs, but having the coast right on my doorstep is very special.

-280 fetchpoints today btw!

Amfy, my walk along the prom today earned me -64 points, so you're score for today should be a bit better without you having to go anywhere!

I thought I was going to clear all my bugs this morning, when I got home found I was a little short of the distance I thought I was going to do, and after uploading realised why... I'd missed a bug... Not sure I'll have the energy later for a second run.... 🙄
