Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Ah bracken - got lost in it as a very young orienteer. A nice man had to lift me up so I could see the way out :-)

Ok do I do W21L or W21S at Twin Peaks in a couple of weeks? (will only be doing one day of the two)

What do you think, should I scare myself with a long course or play it safe with the short?

RooA,
As one of the co-organisers I can say that Macc Forest has a reputation, for being steep and a tad slippy. If you avoid the direct lines you avoid the tad slippy bits, well mostly. As for the climb you can't avoid it.

Go for glory and aim for 21L as you are doing 1 day, distances won't be too great and the focus needs to be on accuracy rather than eyeballs out speed.

If you were going for both days you would have the cahnce of winning a magic mushroom!!

A magic mushroom? coolio.

Turns out I can do both days but have entered the short course cos doing L two days in a row scared me silly.

I think I may have just tried to phone you DM - LOL! Sorry, it wasn't letting me enter and I panicked! but it has now. All sorted out.

Oooooo am very excited about doing a two day event :) :)

Did the Twin Peak at Macclesfield Forest a few years ago as my first attempt at a M20L. It still holds the record for me as being the longest time I've ever been out on a course. From memory it was something like 10.6km with 650m of climb.

These days I dont orienteer much at all, except for the odd Long-O, MM, sprints and night. Dont go for the bog standard day events any more as I found the events far too variable in quality.

Hillwalker,

What's Nopesport? Never heard of it........

Yes it is me, I always drive like an old granny at 60 mph and take pleasure in winding up the Lakies who have a thing about local races for local people, despite the fact they have great areas.
