Enjoyed it NE. I'd call it more of a trail race than a fell race, but it was a pleasantly challenging and scenic course. Quite scary how much fitness I've lost, but so be it.
Oh, and I went for a swim on the last stream crossing

You're right, both the Splash and ALS are more akin to a trail race I suppose, there really isn't much route choice is there? A few places here and there where you can go off-piste to try and gain an advantage. It's still pretty rough terrain in places though. Am thinking the descent off Top Withins on ALS in particular..

Yep, very little route choice on the Splash. A few opportunities to take a parallel trod to avoid a boggy bit of the main path and to cut the corner on a hairpin, but that's about it.
The guy running (term used loosely) in road shoes was having a fun time ๐

If I wasn't signed up for Carlisle half I'd love to join you (but mum is keen to have a break away and dog-sit, so she's booked the hotel already, otherwise I could have easily changed my mind) Pls will someone remind me to do HH instead next year?

I'm sure you'll love the Carlisle half, Rosehip
(I'm not. It's a decent road half and less congested than most city races, but it's not all that interesting.)
