Has anybody read Jonny Muir's The Mountains are Calling? I've just started it, and like it a lot. It might be a bit of a Scottish Feet in the Clouds, but still good, and quite well written.
Now I want to do a Ramsay's round after my BG. Or not.

I’m reading that at the moment jacdaw, enjoying it too - Scottish Feet in the Clouds is a fairly apt description.
I have a Ramsay in my sights already, but not got to those chapters yet. May require a rethink after reading

I've just finished it and agree with what you say - a hugely enjoyable read. I think it's really refreshing that a decent book on the subject has come out, there has been a lot of rubbish churned out in recent years (thinking Steve Chiltern and the drivel he comes out with), so to find a book that's authoritative, interesting and well-written is a bit of a joy.
I've always fancied doing a Ramsay, much more so than a PBR. I would have tried earlier if it hadn't been for the logistics of it. We were up in the Highland several weeks back and it's just not realistic to nip up there for the weekend, get in some meaningful training and then back in time for work on Monday I fear that my moment has passed and that makes me very sad

I think I’ve visited more of the summits on the PBR than either BGR or CRR from my time down south when Snowdonia was the easiest to reach, but I have little desire to do a PBR.
Now in Glasgow, Highlands are definitely most appealing - off to Fort William tomorrow in fact for a Mamores round Saturday. Excellent
While I’m still a bit younger than you NE, I’m starting to get into the feeling that the clock is ticking for getting a round done before my body is no longer capable. Next year, fingers crossed.

Enjoy your weekend ZP, it sounds great.
I think you have time yet, but it is surprising how quickly time passes by. I didn't do my BGR until I was 50. Not that this is unusual of course I know a couple of guys around my age who are planning a stab at the Ramsay, if it wasn't for my RA I would be joining them! I'm still hopeful of a miracle cure, so watch this space .....

Thanks for the heads ups guys on the Muir book. Chilton’s writing (if you can call his school boy cut and paste plagiarism and sycophantic interviewing of the great and good writing) is truly appalling - ‘It’s a book; try to get through it’

Coincidentally we have one of the true inspirations for me even thinking about a BG here at the moment. When I asked about a PBR or RR they said ‘for me it’s about Lakeland’ and I’ve always agreed. I love Snowdonia but buying the PBR map is the closest I’ve got to considering another round

Cheers NE, fingers crossed for that miracle cure for you
Does Steve Chiltern actually run, or just write about it? I confess I’ve never read any of his (and don’t feel too inspired to try the other one from Askwith, either).
