Rich - Sounds like a great weekend. Well done on a great effort. Sets you up nicely for your own attempt. :)

Thanks Mud. I enjoyed it, especially the dawn run over the Dodds :-) Bit spaced out from lack of sleep today!! Other thing was, you're so focused on making sure the attempter has food and drink, you suddenly realise after 4 hours that all you've had yourself is a sip of water and a gel and you wonder why your head's swimming :-)

Own attempt..hmmm. Not sure. It partly inspired me, partly put me off altogether - will explain when we see you at a Trunce! Looking at a couple of 50 milers this summer and autumn at the moment. Don't let me put you off though Mud!

I think the BGR is unlike a lot of other long distance challanges... I am very keen to do it, while I would not contemplate other long distance events/races/challenges. Think coming from a mountaineering background rather than a running background makes it different somehow...

I hope we can get there for one of the summer ones Mud. I know J would love to and it would be great to catch up.

Impressive doings on Saturday Rich. Wondered how you were getting on in the weather. Feel a wimpish now for dropping off the Ochils earlier than planned on Sunday - but it was really wet up there, and we were going slowly (it was a race recce, so lots of stops to explain & discuss route choices, landmarks etc).

BLIDDY ANKLE!!! :( Rolled over on it again. Feckin' nasty pain and lots of ripping type noise followed by lots of loud expletives which I must aplogise for if I offended anybody coming past. Sorry. Now lots of swelling and some discomfort and a very fixed plan to not run for 3 weeks and then maybe venture back on to the black flat stuff for a period.

Thanks Hann. Yep I have well and truly RICED it. Just hoping it is well enough to walk on tomorrow and doesn't keep me awake tonight. :(

Eeeek... geek :-p ;-)

I know there is some sort of formula for it somewhere on the web FR, but I would not have a clue... it also would depend on the type of terrain how fast you can move, not just the incline, so it is a bit hard to formulate.
