Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

...but you've beaten me again with Swallow J2! I seem to be fortunate with warblers, Willows are thinly but we'll distributed around here. Whitethroats were a bit earlier than recent years. Waiting now for Reed...
Believe it or not I only saw one Swallow last spring and no House Martins.

So many skylarks :)
Got too close to the buzzard’s nest, thought I was going to lose my hat - must remember not to run that path for a few weeks again.

Thanks (again) Derby Tup for encouraging me to look up tree sparrows vs house sparrows recently. We visited Hauxley this weekend and I could confidently identify tree sparrows viewed from one of the hides.

There were lots of chaffinches about, and at first I thought this was a female, but when I got chance to process the image close up, I think it's a female brambling

Lots of nice bird and butterfly encounters this weekend, visiting 3 different nature reserves. I may post a blog and some pictures later once I've been through them.

What a bright and lovely bird HB.

I didn't know I'd seen a brambling until I got back and took a closer look at my photos, so I'm glad I took its photo!
