Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've now actually measured the distance from my one-sparrow-in-12-years garden to the hedgerow up the road where they're always chattering. It's 120 metres! You'd think they'd have to end up my garden occasionally, if only by accident!

My next door neighbour had spadges at hers and I never had one in well over ten years. Super territorial they are. I bet she didn’t see the six waxwing that I spotted one winter afternoon from the upstairs landing window, or dash out to hear migrating pinkies calling in the low cloud the same winter

Which reminds me . . . keep ‘em peeled for winter visitors. Not long now ;-)

Nice to see some house martin last night while waiting to run with club mates from Lothersdale mind :-)

Didn't see any swallows on my run today. Did see a wren chasing a dunnock in the garden earlier, wonder if the dunnock was getting confused.

There’s a house up the road from us and they have spadges in a bush in their garden. I bet there’s none next door, where they have a fence :-)
