First kingfisher for ages this morning.

And an unknown on Gaddings this afternoon. Quite neutral colouring, probably grey, but with a striking brilliant white rump when it flew. Shape and size were ploverish. I feel I should know what this is, but...

Wondered, but don't think so. Didn't have the wing bar. And they're quite a distinctive shape.

Autumnal feel in the air now, with flocks of predominantly 2020 edition goldfinches coming down onto the feeders. Throughout spring and summer, great tits and blue tits were the most common birds on the feeders, but now it's goldfinches.

Spotted 'my' gang of goldfinches on top of the tree down the street this morning. Also saw a kestrel hovering over the fields at the back of my dad's garden on Sunday.

And a spitfire (not a bird)

Another kingfisher yesterday, about 100m from the house this time. Haven't seen one in months and now 3 in 2 days :-)

Weath
Finally got to see the Bearded Vulture on the second time of trying. This time at Crowden instead of when I tried a few weeks back when it was nearer Strines.

Wow. That was one impressive bird! The size of it is difficult to comprehend until you actually see it in flight, which seemed so effortless as it glided up and down the valley. I was lucky enough to see it clearly perched on the top of an outcrop, in flight (4 separate times) and hold off the challenge of a 'very game' kestrel.

Fantastic morning.
