Nice. I always think of dipper, kingfisher and grey wag as signs of clean water

Over at brighouse Bay again. So far on the way/since arriving: flock of lapwing near carlisle (my first sighting of them), 2 buzzards, 3 red kites, wagtail but unsure which, and a family of as yet unspecified sparrows that was saw in the panels of the house we are in. Not had camera handy for any of them.

..about time..I saw my first Redwings this morning fly past the house: 200 in a loose flock. Also and as usual at this time of year, Woodpigeon movement to the south west; unfortunately the skies weren't completely clear but 4,000 in half an hour was a start.

Otter fishing in a small pond while on one of our walks. Photos weren't great, but there was a heron following it around the pond .

How do you count estimate that kind of figure steve? Have an idea of what day 500 or 1000 looks like and multiply our? Digital photography?

Heron-tastic here at the moment and some really big ones moving around. Got close to a few as they perched at the side of a river close to the inner city.

We had the day off today and went to Fraisethorpe again with Tuss. Turnstone and loads of sanderling were ace but I also spotted two small-med palish ‘splotchy’ looking birds flittering about. I only got a fleeting glance but am 90% they were snow bunting
