Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Heard a chiffchaff here this morning too. They shouldn't be singing at this time of year, should they?

Unlike all the local robins, who are very much in the vocal claiming territory phase!

flanker, I think they start up for a while again at the end of summer. I've heard this before, into early October, after chiffchaff silence for a couple of months.

My berry situation is like yours jacdaw--down here in South Wales in my garden all Rowan and Hawthorn berries well gorged upon a long time ago!
Chiffchaff singing this morning. As J2R says they sing well into October.
Redwings within ten days now!! I've often, if not usually heard them in the first days of October.

Biggish group of golden plover settling down to roost in the heather last night while I was running. Probably 80 or so. I disturbed them, but they took off, flew just above the heather for about 10 feet, and then settled again. Once they had gone down they were completely invisible.
