I'm looking for recommendations for long-distance weather forecasts. South Lakes generally (as opposed to mountain tops). The one thing that made us hesitate about entering The Lap again this year was that the weather was so perfect in 2022 that we felt that it would be difficult to match our enjoyment of the event if the Lakes threw something different at us in 2023. We didn't overheat and we didn't get cold or wet - not bad for nearly 18 hours on our feet. But the desire to do it again prevailed ... So ... any early predictions for 13 May? |

I've used accuweather in the past. Some of the times I've used it, it has been brilliantly accurate even up to 3 months ahead. Might be just luck, as often many of the days are very similar to each other. There's also possibly some confirmation bias in there, that I remember the ones that I was impressed by, given that even standing in the Lakes last Saturday, my normal weather app had the wrong immediate weather.

Weather forecasts cannot be accurate beyond a certain threshold of time. Anything beyond ~7d is lower precision. Chaos theory, fractals, probability etc... Whereas most forecasts within 72h are now very robust due to the sheer number of numerical solutions they now run. |

Bit of a landmark today, we did a nice little loop from Threlkeld to Blencathra, Bowscale, Bannerdale Crags and then back to Blencathra for a descent via Doddick. Nothing unusual there I know, BUT I finally managed to drag Bobs over Sharp Edge enroute and she was v.brave. A bit of a sticky moment when a bloke coming in the opposite direction tried to cross her path right on the bad step, but she made it look easy.
