that would be 40,000 for a tenner or 4000 for £100, I can't do zeros either ;)

I’ll start by donating £400 if anyone wants to set up a crowdfunding thingie? I’ll only spend it on wine or books otherwise. 🥂🍾🍷

If there was a way of doing it so that it didn't become an administrative nightmare I'd be interested but I suspect that isn't the case (although I have no legal knowledge of how such things work so I'd be happy to be proved wrong).

Not necessarily the right thread for this, but has anyone ever done the Hawkshead 10k (mid-week, middle of June)?

I'll be in Lakes for that week this year, so was wondering what it was like.

Also coincides with moving into next age category, but that's one for the WAVA thread ;-)

Do you mean the LT Hawkshead trail race? I did that, many years back.

I assume R4R is referring to the Kendal AC road race - one of a series of four.

I've not done the Hawkshead one for a number of years but expect it's still the same route - basically a rolling circuit of Esthwaite Water. All of the series are low key, no frills events with a good feel to them - you'll be offered a cup of water half way round and invited to help yourself at the finish. There will be no medals, shirts or other 'bling'. Traditionally, the club have held a BBQ in Hawkshead following this one but I never went (needed to get home for work the following day) - I haven't looked at the listing to see if they plan that this year. Entry on the night will be no issue so, if I were visiting, I'd be minded to wait until I was up here then make a decision based on the weather at the time.

And don't expect a higher than average WAVA - there's a few lumps along the way ;)
