great race today, well organised and perfect conditions. Lack of sleep, lack of long runs meant I blew up at 22, 4 20 for me, Had a pint or two at the levenhall arms and watched runners coming in, well done all, some had broke, some were at their pace, all were making it to the finish line, well apart from one who got on the sweeper bus...that's what the marathon is all about, getting to the finish line.

After Manchester, I remain in awe of the Edinburgh baggage collection. Once again, the team read the number on my shirt as I crossed the field, and handed me the bag before I could even ask for it.

problems I could moan about are the high prices of the food, I wanted a burger but am not paying £5 for one, beer que was huge. that's all i can fault with it, I remember people moaning about the baggage when it rained, they put all the bags on the floor uncovered, minor moan I though, £5 for a burger though come on!!!

ok, got results: Chip time 3.57.35; half 1.55.08 so not a disastrous split. I was dying between 30 and 35k but I knew if I kept to 6min/km I could come in under 4hr.

Having heard much about the failings of the organisation of Edinburgh, I have to say it was pretty immaculate today.

Fergus, great point about the bags. I was astonished to arrive at my truck to find the woman standing there with my bag for me all ready.

And Duchess, agree...I have been critical before but today everything seemed to be pretty well done. How was the Prossecco - well earned ?

Icelandic TriGirl - well done on the PB.....it did get pretty hot
