Saw that the otehr day. Enjoyed the finish on the racecourse - but I can see the need for change. Just hope it doesn't finish with a lap round a playing field - I hate those finishes on any run - definitely don't want it at the end of a marathon!!

It didn't finish at the race course this year, that was the problem.

I've just entered, it will be my first (and possibly my last) marathon, I want to say that I have done one!! I did the half this year and enjoyed the course but as others have said not so much the end but it was even worse waiting for my son to come in from the full marathon and having to climb walls to see him complete after being turned away by officious little pricks in hi-vis jackets, by the time I finish next year though they will have all packed up for the day and gone home, I expect to cross the line around midnight;)

I am seriously considering this one, just such a long way away distance wise. But never visited Edinburgh before so why not :-)

I entered a few weeks ago certain in the knowledge I wouldn't get through the VLM ballot. I was right. I love visiting Scotland so am hoping that this visit isn't ruined by poor organisation of the run. This is only my second mara and I wasn't aware there had been problems in the past.

Why should I/ shouldn't I enter this marathon?

Pros - It's a quick course, the crowds are supportive.

Cons - Some of the organisation is distinctly amateur for such an expensive and high profile race, the weather can really go against you.

I mught do the half again, it's a fast course and I want sub 85. The (dis)organisation didn't affect me personally too much, but it was poor.

Hmm, is not cheap, is the disorganisation an ongoing situation then. Any examples?

The baggage reclaim last year was farcical. That was the biggest problem for me, that and getting out of the competitor's area on very tired legs to meet Her Indoors after the race. Huge, huge queues and very limited egress.
