Haven't they ever considered running the marathon in reverse? i.e start at Musselburgh, up to Gosford House and then back to the finish on Regents Road?
Might be a few traffic issues later in the day, but surely transporting people out at 8am would be far easier than at 3-5pm?
Still want more music en-route. Bar a couple of pipers, "steel" band, choir, DJs near the racecourse and Seton Sands holiday park and a couple of houses with radios, nothing really. Surely local bands etc could line the route and it would be good advertising for them as well as lifting our spirits! Always nice to hear music rather than just footsteps for miles on end...

The finish would be uphill if they did that...but finishing in the city centre would be more convenient for most people, I imagine.

going back a few pages - Springer, me and pink lady kat saw you asking someone for water, and plk saw someone say no, she was the fetchie that offered you water we had enough on us and were confident the stations and crowds would see us right, we'd have ran to you but you said you'd get some further on. glad you're okay, we were concerned your next station was a while away. well done on your race

When I first ran Edinburgh in2006, we ran around town, out to portobello and then back to holyrood park where it finished....the 6 miles from porty to the end were up hill, brutal and it was a day of similar sunny conditions....
Still, at least they didnt go around arthurs seat which has happened in earlier years

Was laughing/impressed at the rendition of YMCA by five runners who managed to coordinate their moves at the 26 mile mark at Ma Formans . was very funny
