Great pictures! I love being out for a run around 6.00 am. It's quiet, less traffic and the air is much better. No better way to start the day.

Most of my runs start before 7am. It's a great time of the day for running.
I often get to see the wildlife in my local woods - typically I see deer, squirrels and herons.
The only downside now is that it's turning darker. December and January are still dark when I set off. It just adds to the interest of changing seasons!

I agree, Mushroom. Early spring, when the daylight reappears, is so good to see!

seeing the difference in the mornings already
Husband bought me the brightest pink jacket I have ever seen as he's worried about me running in the half-light early doors. It''s frighteningly pink - I'll scare off any wildlife!

Great photos …..early morning is my preferred time......I was late setting off this morning 8.30ish …….the increase in traffic is surprising even on a sunday morning.....didn't enjoy so much ……...

Getting up in the dark and setting out under the amber glow of the street lamps is just one part of the challenge of running early.
Add in *unpredictable* weather and slippery or muddy surfaces, and darkrunning may not be for everyone. I used to meet a friend at 5.40am every weekday and we'd do a fairly lively 5 miles, as well as allowing me to continue the Streak.
Running early didn't have a consistently positive impact on work: yes, I could go in invigorated but, especially in recent years, I'd find the 3pm snooze inevitable occasionally!

Ha ha, I know what you mean Switts 😃 I don’t go out early at weekends - I’ve only just run and it’s nearly lunchtime. A decent head/chest light is essential, even when running where there’s street lights in my village, as it’s not well enough lit and the paths are narrow/uneven in places. I’ve just charged my chest torch in anticipation of needing it tomorrow morning. Hi viz is wise too. Pink is vivid, RH. I like it!

I’ve been running early for about 5 months now, before rather than after work. Days off I run later (in about 10 mins) but it really does set me up for the day. Alarm set for 06:00 but I’m normally awake at 05:45.
