Don't talk attendance. It's too depressing being a British hockey mum at the moment. My kids have gained so much from the sport and Cedd had realistic ambitions within UK hockey. American league popularity and crowd numbers are something else. Covid is not helping here. I fear we will lose more rinks and teams. Anyway, about fighty chaps and checking. Let's think cheery thoughts. |

In the years I watched British hockey we lost Aldershot and Ryde was on its way out, assume it’s gone now? Eight link Raiders used to be in the EPL - tiny rink, big passionate crowds.

Yes Ryde is gone. Grimsby was resurrected by its local community. It is (forgive my language) a fucking shit tip. It's being redecorated by the parents and had to fundraise as it didn't have a zamboni when the community took it on. And the pad is so small there's no time to organise a defence. I bloody love going to my kids junior fixtures there though. I always support by eating eleventy billion cakes from the stall set up the mums. I won't have a word said against it.

oh and it takes hours to get there and you have to drive over the world's worst road surface that nearly rattles your wheels off. But a 3 hour journey each way for 3 x15 minute periods is normal hockey mum stuff (shorter in juniors).

Deeside was earmarked as a temp morgue and last I heard doesn't have ice back down yet but is planning to reopen. My kids are back training at our home rink. |

Bracknell has gone? Weren’t they Superleague for a while? Only in a making-up-the-numbers way. Romford’s gone too, it’s now a hospital. They used to get good crowds, we used to poach their best youngsters (ditto Gillingham) |

Meanwhile back over the pond. I was right in my assumption that if Big Ten restarted then Pac-12 wouldn't be far behind. seattletimes.com |

Bracknell had a golden period , John Nike was a huge fan and then they just ran it down. Used to go every week.

I think they played at all levels of top-flight hockey - Superleague, EPL (with us) and the thing in between. BIHL was it? I don't remember much about it as a spectator. Wasn't it underneath the ski slope? |
