I'm not convinced by either of the 'Not the Houston Oilers' teams, so I'll have to go Colts.

57.5 Degrees of Pain
I'm impressed by the optimism here. If any sport will be difficult to 'Covid proof' it is Football. Especially when the US is likely to have sudden disease hotspots given the widely spaced population. I know the TV money is massive, but even with games behind closed doors:

- massive playing and coaching staffs, especially at preseason training
- large TV broadcast teams and extensive medical backup
- huge parking lots that will attract tailgaters
- relatively close contact with lots of other individuals on the field
- a fan demographic with significant numbers who might assert their 'right' to see games by turning up with guns.

Am I being overly pessimistic?

It'll be fine. A bit of disinfectant will sort things out.

The loss if the college game for a season (can't see any way that can go ahead) will be a huge financial hit to those institutions and have a big impact on player development. The money might be offset by one off donations from alumni, but what does the 2021 draft look like?

šŸ˜ SPR!

But how much disinfectant do you need to dose a 350lb lineman?

No college football means Iā€™m less tempted to shell out for a BT Sport subscription. Thereā€™s always an upside.

So: my predictions for 2020 (differences from Surrey Phil in CAPS)

AFC East - BILLS
AFC North - Ravens

AFC South - COLTS
AFC West - Chiefs

NFC East - Cowboys

NFC North - Vikings

NFC South - FALCONS (I suspect this isnā€™t a common opinion)
NFC West - Seahawks

As a Cowboys fan, I'd certainly like that. There's just too much inconsistency down in Dallas yet the talent is there.

Last year, there were a couple of narrow defeats against top sides and some good wins against similar opposition. There were also a few really sloppy performances against weaker opposition.

Mike McCarthy is a good acquisition from Green Bay as Head Coach but he may need a bit of time to drill them in. COVID-19 suggests that he won't have enough time for a championship-winning side this season but, like Jimmy Johnson, has to start somewhere.
