Not so Lazytoad!
Hi peeps

I have just added body pump into my week to improve my running strength, I am however suffering badly with doms. One of my running friends recommended something like Maxifuel post pump session would help a lot. Can anyone else recommend something that has helped them etc? I'm not a lover of sweet drinks or artificial sweetener, your advise is much appreciated.

What she said.

Protein supplements might help a bit, but in reality it will just go on its own. Might not even be three weeks if you are reasonably fit already.

Ah ok thanks guys, I'm quite fit and used to be a regular to pump 😊. Fingers crossed then it should ease off soon then. Jon would a cold bath help not sure I could quite manage ice?

The evidence for ice baths has been a subject of much debate. The balance of evidence does suggest some benefit. Alex Hutchinson re-examined the latest evidence in his Sweat Science column two weeks ago.

runnersworld.com

As you will see, in the most recent study (of cyclists), they spent 15 minutes immersed up to the neck, at 15 degrees Centigrade, immediately after training four times per week There was some rather unclear evidence of a small benefit for those had the cold baths.

The debate continues.

The DOMS will be far less after subsequent sessions than after that first session back following a break. Using sports nutrition products won't make any difference. I can't see how applying a thermal stimulus to your skin would help in any way.

You have my sympathy. On Saturday I went indoor climbing for the first time in many months. By yesterday, I could just about bear to laugh without holding my abdomen.

An ice bath up to your neck would certainly take your mind off the DOMS!!

I'm pretty fit, but I get DOMS whenever I take a break from Pump and my other usual classes. The first week back I can hardly walk, the second week back is about half as bad, by the third week it's all ok again. Really, I've worked out it's best to just chuck myself back into it and suffer, cos doing more doesn't make it any worse!
