it's not a good sign of where they are at as a team, they seem to be on the up, but if you can give up the ghost that easily, then when things get a bit tough next time we're in Aus, or anywhere, any test match, it's not a good trait to have....you can easily go from a winning team to a losing one.....

That was a bit pathetic, but at least it's saved me having to check the score all day at work...
Agreed, Wrigglers MDOT, it showed a lamentable lack of fight.

Come on. There's something wonderfully familiar and comforting about an English batting collapse. It ensures no game is ever safe in the supporter's mind.

Weren't the great Australian side of 90's pretty lacklustre once the series was won. Sure we collected a few dead rubbers off them even after being ritually humiliated over the series.
South Africa were shockingly inept at times, and there was a great chance we'd end up thinking we were better than we were; at least this gives us a wake up call and highlights a few problems that might have surfaced in a live series otherwise.
Plenty for the coaches to work on, but plenty to be pretty happy about. Remember the utter butt-fucking we got this time a year ago in the ODI WC; progress has been outstanding since then.
Meanwhile time for some hit and giggle....

that's true TRO, but it seems to me a defeat is just under the surface at all times....not just at the end. Indeed we nicked a few tests off of Australia, Mark Butcher has lived off his 174 for 20-odd years now.....
