Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

You forced me to read a Mail Online article. :-( Doesn't get any better the more you read of it.

Oh, so the Mail was against it not for it?

Nico, it's all Thatcher's fault for closing the mines. Mills is no Harold Larwood.

The hypocrisy displayed on the Mail website on a daily basis is a reassuring sign of stability in a highly unstable world ;-)

Their apparent friendship adds some complexity to the story. Still doesn’t make it right

Context: this use of the P word is just one incident; there were loads of others.

That friendship was described in the past tense as well. Otherwise, you'd be thinking there should be a long and heartfelt conversation about this, but that ship has clearly sailed. The Zimbabwean approach to race and understanding is also somewhat different to ours (as I understand it). Again, as Baz says, it adds complexity... and as TRO says, there's loads of others AND it clearly exists and was allowed to exist and persist in that club's culture without being called out.

There's a tale of Justin Langer's time at Taunton in which a player (unnamed) is taking the p*** out of and generally being unkind to Andy Caddick, who is and remains something of an odd fella. Langer not only called it out but pointed out in fairly graphic terms to the lad concerned that when he has 250 Test match wickets, he could start thinking about being on a level with 'Caddy' but until then, he could f*** right off.

That may not be the *best* method, but at least the attempt at bullying and humiliation was called out and addressed.
