Today he chased Caspar in the garden and had an altercation with Ellie when we took our eyes off them dealing with a Tesco delivery - Ellie had retreated under Sarah's bed and was growling loudly at Kyri. He came out when I used my stern voice.

In which, even though it's a descendant of Dutch, some words have a completely different meaning. The Dutch word for cat is not ideally used in polite (mixed) Afrikaans conversation 😊
