It’s such fun catching little spitting terrified scraps and seeing them turn into little cuddly friendly fur-balls in a matter of weeks.

Yes, that must be a wonderful feeling...especially to watch their transformation.

Yes they turn into proper friendly pets when caught and tamed at this age. Of course they all have their own personalities too.

My parents used to live in a greenbelt area and there were feral cats living about. Our neighbour put food out for them and made an outdoor shelter as they weren't happy to be tamed. My dad and stepmother used to put food out for them too...and they would wait on the kitchen windowsill for food...but scuttle off when we went to put it out, returning once we were back in the house. |

Once they are adults, it's a different story. These 8 week(ish) babies are easy, we've taken in rather bigger kittens close to 2kg in weight that took a while to turn round but still came out ok. It may also depend on just how much human contact they have had in their first few months while living outdoors. Often they've been at least partially supported. I've certainly heard of adult ferals being tamed but that's a long process (that we haven't got the resources to attempt). |

Oh look at those kittens, they're just so ridiculously cute. I worry that once I get a house I'm just going to fill it with cats and cat stuff, and live life in a permanently allergic state...

Yes, I can see how adults would be harder to tame. We would usually watch them through the kitchen window when they came to eat.
