Bib scared me senseless by wandering in with a very gunky eye. I cleaned it and she seemed fine. Was about to ring the vet. Then I recalled her repeatedly putting her head in a roll of old carpet waiting for the tip earlier in the day. Daft cat. She seems fine and no recurrence. The carpet has gone to the tip.

Lasya gets gunky eyes.
I was told it is normal for her breed. It has never been a problem.

Daisy might have a sore eye. I'll keep one of mine on both of hers for the rest of the day.

Ellie gets a gummy eye sometimes. It's caused by a virus which she must have picked up when she was a feral kitten - when it flares up it causes tiny ulcers on the eye, which irritate it. Frustrating because the treatment is to put ointment in her eye, but only when there's a flare up - so we'd have to get an appointment quickly every time it happens as the ointment doesn't last long. So we just let it happen, it's usually very short-lived.

I had ointment for Lasya initially but came to the conclusion it only contributed to her stress about it and didn't speed up healing.

I have absolutely no idea how we would do this with Ellie - she is so lean and nimble and would wriggle out of it.

One of the kids on the street has dropped a cat toy through the door for Tilly - a small mouse with a bell on the tail. She has done some playing with it but as I have no idea who it actually was I can't thank them!
