Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

From what I remember of the course FR, I think the answer to your question would be yes :)

I think the reeeeeeally muddy part is after the halfway point. I remember crossing a busy road and then going down a ploughed, muddy track.

There are a few potentially very muddy bits in the first half, though most of it is tarmac. The last half mile or so of the first half is across a field and up a track which have been shoe-eating monsters in the past, and some of the section along Wort's Causeway is between two hedgerows and can be a bit boggy, too.
Whichever version you're doing, I'd suggest only wearing new shoes if they happen to be new hybrid road/trail shoes. Weather's not been too bad lately, but enough heavy rain that it's going to be gooey in places. Too much tarmac en route for my trail shoes, which is a shame because they're brilliant in heavy mud.

I'll try and get along after church - I'm usually at the point where you cross Madingley Rd in the second half

It's something quite special, isn't it? The first time I saw one of my colleagues running, he was picking his way through that and looking utterly shattered. Apparently running 6 miles to the start of a half was a bit much for him then, and the mud was the last straw. He's gone on to top-twenty finishes in big marathons, so it didn't put him off too much.

it was a bit windy today!! I forgot how exposed Cambridge can be - also surprisingly hilly. offroad sections not too bad by XC standards, but slid around a bit and hated muddy section in last mile! 1:33 for the half.

If you hated the muddy section for the first half I hate to think what your thoughts on the second half would be!!
