You could also try the de Vere Harben at Newport Pagnell. They often do good deals often right up to the week before. 15 min drive from Caldecotte

Harben's very cheap. Sometimes you can get a decent rate at the Ramada Encore in central MK too. Ash and I got a pair of rooms there for Winter this year, and I stayed there for last year's Quadzilla.

Thanks when do the cheap deals tend to appear? I am on the waiting list now but can't commit for a couple of weeks so hoping I don't get to the top by then! Once I have a place can book somewhere cheap that you can't cancel

Are the deal direct with hotel or on booking.com?

Premier Inns do cheaper rooms early due to yield management, but have sales on usually 2-3 months before. Other hotels can have deals later on due to having empty space that the need to fill.
I tend to book through booking.com after clicking trough from topcashback.co.uk, which gives me a couple of quid cashback later in the year, which I then take as Tesco Clubcard vouchers with which I buy twice the face value in redspottedhanky rail e-vouchers which go towards my travel down.
So, nice and simple.
