100 pages in and I am hooked. It’s well written and captivating. It’s one of those books that lets you live another life.

I sometimes feel like I should’ve been living in California in the 60s and 70s. There have been a number of books I’ve read set in that time and location where I’ve felt a strong, tangible connection like it was somewhere I used to be. Maybe it’s just good writing and a strong sense of place, maybe it’s growing up in a time that was strongly influenced by that culture? Who knows.

It's the sunshine that appeals to me about that place and era Dio, the hedonism, not so much.

Perhaps that's why I'm loving my current book, A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. Literally, a rich interior life - he's under house arrest in a Moscow hotel.
