Don't mind if others jump in first, I will chip in soon.
I'm tempted to write a review, but I'm not sure that is conducive to a good discussion, if we all right long essays and don't respond to each other.

So are we starting the discussion now and not waiting until the first?

Unless anyone objects... I think people are keen to get on with it.

I thought it was alright. I didn't *hate* it. It was a real genre-mongrel of a book, chick lit crossed with sci-fi and I don’t think that really worked.
I thought that the writing of the chick lit bit was far better than the writing of the sci-fi bit, I didn’t buy into that at all. It is incredibly difficult to write sci-fi convincingly I don’t think the author has the skill as it came across as being really childish and amateur.

I didn't like it much, it just didn't fit together for me: the whole premise of the story.. He had to kill anyone who knew about this maths breakthrough didn't really work for me. Also I think the end note explained a lot , the author went through a period of mental breakdown/depression and I think he was working through that by writing the book, the alien was too human even from the beginning
