That's fantastic but who is he? Anyone know anything about him?

Yes, I've been following his blog for a couple of years. Serving army officer, lives in Braithwaite, away from home for extended periods.. He was the guy who broke the ATR record during the height of lockdown when the fells were "closed" and you know how Ambleside are at the merest hint of criticism ..... :-)

Seems he's another athlete coached by Martin Cox (as is Beth Pascall). And yes now you mention it I do remember the ATR stuff. Martin is an interesting character with an interesting history and approach to mountain running (compared to the traditional Lakeland approach) but his methods certainly seem to be producing the goods.

Turns out I was wrong, George left the army a few years back - I've been following his blog a lot longer than I realised. Now works as a teacher:

Is he by god? That's a big ask, hell of a tough outing. But then Joe is also a tough cookie, hope he cracks it. It's got to be sub-48 in order for it to be classed as a "Steve Parr" round, I noticed that the successful rounds are now on the BGR club website. That lass from Dark Peak had a go the other week - Kirsty Hewitson? - and finished in 52 hours which was a bit of a shame.

He is, and Damo is having a crack at the South Wales Traverse too (which given the lockdown rules in most of South Wales/Beacons seems rather surprising!).

Dots to watch for both on OT.

Joe is going for sub 61 hours. I'm hoping we can get out to see him a few times over the next few days.
