Paul is hoping for sub-48. Going well despite overnight weather.

Indeed he is Simon. He refused to agree to Nicky Spinks calling her 'double' a Double Ramsay Round and after some discussion they agreed to calling it an attempt on a "Double Ramsay Round with a variation: 46 munros in 48 hours", though the agreed wording seems to get forgotten in anything written about/by Nicky...

That's a big (two) days out NE. Especially given the overnight weather. It's been bad enough this morning down at 700ft. Are you doing more support today?

Two very big days FF, it's a bold plan and an incredible route. John Fleetwood came out to meet him on leg 3 yesterday to wish him luck, if he cracks it he'll be only the 4th to do so.

No more supporting, we're a bit knackered. We did leg 2 and leg 4 yesterday, that was enough more fell miles in the last seven days than I've done for quite a while and somewhere around 22,000 feet of climb. It's time to go home and scrape the mud off 🙂

Just some trivia: The instigator of this round was Steve Parr, he was the BGR club member who went missing in the Himalayas in the 90s. Apparently he always wanted it to be considered a 48 hour challenge, hence Paul's target.

An addendum to yesterday's discussion on fast BGs. The one we all forgot was the unofficial (i.e. not recognised by the BG club) 14.17 round by Ryan Smith (US based but originally from Scotland) where due to a lack of available support he did some sections solo.

Thanks NE. I saw the piece about it being now labelled the Steve Parr round but didn't know the bit about the 48 hour target.

ff - as a further addendum to the talk on fast BGs, this new ( I think ) website popped up on a FB feed longrun.co.uk promoting the fact they'd updated it with Beth and Damo's runs.

in the BG section, they have in 8th place a 14:59 by Jon Duncan in June 2017, and Jasmin therefore in 9th. No idea on the accuracy of the website, or who maintains it.

Blimey! Good spot Gus. I've known Jon pretty well for over 20 years and I knew he'd done a fast one but in my head it was slower than Jasmin and I didn't bother to check. Oops! He is another one who it would have been interesting to see do it in his prime. He was one of Britain's leading orienteers for many years and won two world championship relay medals but didn't do his BG until 7 years after he effectively retired from top level competition. Ironically he did his round the same day as Ryan Smith.

What's surprising is there is that cluster of 4 rounds in 5 minutes just under 15 hours but then nothing it seems for 25 minutes.
