Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Really confused by what to buy at the moment; just got a new Boardman hybrid, mainly for commuting, certainly don't want to spend a fortune on shoes and want something I can walk up to the office in.

Hybrid of the 'flat bar rocket' variety? Certainly don't want to put road pedals on it (and you can't walk in road shoes - factoid).

Most of the SPD shoes we've talked about here give you the option of going 'eggbeater', but it sounds like SPD is the way for you.

How's this for Euro-trendy and not outtrageously expensive?

I have these edinburghbicycle.com which I use for zooming round Cambridge at the weekend. You couldn't run in them but you can wear them all day for walking round the place. They're SPD compatible and I have a pair of double sided Revolution pedals which I bought because they were cheap. They're okay, but I think I'll upgrade them again later in the year. They're not the easiest to use but I haven't come a cropper yet.

I use the same shoes for *everything* - triathlon, time trials, training rides. They're bottom of the range Shimano shoes and are perfect for training and racing - they only have two straps (only one of which I actually need to use) so are essentially as good as tri shoes in transition (not that quick transition is something I'm famous for - although that's not the fault of my shoes).

I like my Look pedals too. Gobi has speedplays which he loves (and the lack of cleat on the bottom of the shoes makes running in the shoes easier in transition), but I wouldn't change from my Looks (familiarity!).

Thanks Greg, but I need that translating :) All I know is that I have clips and keep catching my laces in the chain if I'm not careful!

Looks like it is an SPD shoe I need though

Although I have Look lady pedals on my TT bike. I wonder if they're scented?

I have *yellow* deltas. I've never seen another pair. What with them, yelllow tyres, a white frame and a red saddle I think it is really quite impressive the way I consistently fail to find my bike in T1.
