It really isn't in the north. I lived there for three years, enough to have an informed opinion. Popping back next month for a memorial for some Nobel prize winner or another.

Of course Nottingham isn't the North, but everything is relative. When I drive 2 hours to meet a group of fen dwellers, yokels and cockneys, I am deemed to be Northern.

I use to get in trouble pointing out Nottingham is not in the North when I was a student there. Some of tge locals seem to think North of thecTrent is North.
It also true some of the locals liked having a pop at laaaandoners for no real reason at all.
